Are Deep Fakes Only Used For Negative Purposes and Misinformation? The Answer May Be Shocking!

Although many people think of deep fakes as a mainly negative thing on the internet, for the most part they are correct. But there are some cases in which deepfakes can be used for the greater good on social media and online services.

Some individuals decide to use deep fakes for positive reasons such as educational purposes and to advertise products in a more intriguing way. When I say educational purposes, I am talking about spreading information that is proven to be right to those who use the internet. For example, Somebody may be able to create a video of Eminem explaining basic physics in a classroom. If the info in the video is all proven to be correct, many viewers on social media will be attracted to that video while also learning something new from a video of a celebrity.

Moreover, people may also use deepfakes to make advertisements for companies by making funny videos or creating a video of a famous person talking about the product. For example, if a company wanted to advertise beach balls, they can create a video of Kevin Hart and Katy Perry playing with one on a beach. If the company creates the video properly and has permission to do so, many individuals may be willing to purchase the product shown.

Another possible positive use of deepfakes can be to bring back those who are deceased and make positive videos regarding them. Although this does sound crazy, it can easily be done while also maintaining a respectful image for the dead. For example, a deepfake video of Muhammad Ali fighting Mike Tyson in a boxing match can be created. This can easily entertain viewers which is what they are generally searching for online if they are informed that it is truly a deepfake.

So as you can see, deep fakes may be viewed as an overall bad, scary thing of the future but it can be used for positive reasons as well.

So with all this being said, what are your thoughts on this? do you believe that deep fake can make a 180 and be used more for good than bad in the future? Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts :) Click the link below for an infographic that shows even MORE ways deep fakes benefit us!
